Uncle Scott did not take my advice, I told him to buy a nice detached house in the countryside of Scotland, but it seems his tribe did not allow him to do that, and he ended up in the social housing! Laughing

Huntercom and the Foul Feline have both been suckered by Thatcherite/Blairite propaganda !

I can assure them both that I and my many admirers are very impressed by what I have found. A terraced house built in the 1840's and renovated and modernised in the 1990's. Of course the Marquess has a place that is rather bigger but I do not have the trouble of dealing with a horde of servants and estate workers.

When I tire of my little place I can visit my neighbour who lives here -

Of course those living in "social housing" in one of the sink estates of Glasgow or Edinburgh might have different experiences !

Exactly right, scot! And being so close to Edinburgh is my idea of heaven -- at least during the festivals. Smile

After the ongoing financial crisis which was sparked off by mortgage lunacy, people in Anglophonia may learn that renting makes sense. It is what people do in Germany, France, Spain and Scandinavia !

I like to think I am blazing the trail for those wishing to return to the rental market. This canine is a TRENDSETTER !

Just back from my afternoon jaunt. Bus trip to Ettrick Bay, using my over-60's Bus Pass. Tea and a scone. Now back in town and I am using the internet facilities (free !) in the Public Library.

Say what you like but I like walking on the wild side ! Tea AND a scone ! Wow !

I hope the Feisty Feline is enjoying his summer in suburbia !

Be careful Scot, don't flash that freedom card when you are down the library.
It is like a red rag to a bull for lady OAPs.
They hunt you down when they see one...it means you have time on your hands....

"Oh, Hello Dear,
You look like a man who know how to use his hands"
And the next thing you know you're both on all fours on the kitchen floor...
....
..

.
.
.
.

and you are fixing her sink.

I know how to tell ladies to go away and leave me alone. Re-arrange the following letters into a well-known phrase or saying.

The Association from which I rent my apartment has other properties from time to time. If anyone is interested, contact me by PM. No cats - and the humans involved must have the Right of Abode in the UK.

For those not ready for the island life, look at a house in the Borders. Scottish Borders Housing Association has lots of properties !

A colleague who works in the Middle East has just got himself a secure tenancy. Go for it !

What's wrong with being a tenant? I guess most people want their own scrap of land but not everyone has to be a landowner.
