My girlfriend and I are heading out to Costa Rica on Saturday to look for work. I'm just curious as to whether or not our lack of letters of recommendation will be a problem. We have teaching experience, but no letters.
Also, does the majority work under tourist visas? I'd really like to get a proper work visa, but have heard it isn't easy.
Thanks for your input. |

Most folks just work on a tourist visa and jump a bus to Panama every 90 days for 72 hours. There are tons of jobs in San Jose for ESL teachers and you probably won't need any recommendation letters. I found 3 ESL jobs in one day driving around with a friend one afternoon. They were not the best schools in the world, but you could earn enough to put rice and beans on the table and keep a metal roof over your head. |
