Hi all,

I'm contemplating a move to the Philippines sometime in the future, however, I'd like to get an idea of what sort of position I could expect with my expectations and qualifications.

From my basic research I understand there's a lot of competition and VISA issues.

Experience/qualifications:
MA Applied Linguistics with TESOL
CELTA
5 years of teaching experience (university level)
1st class BA degree (unrelated)
British (native speaker)

My main question is below, but any other information would be appreciated.

Will my qualifications be enough for a university position?
- What sort of job eg. hours / salary / benefits (housing, airfare, holidays, etc.)?

You'll need a 13a Visa to teach there. You can either get it by marrying a Filipina and going through the process - I heard it is somewhat less difficult than when I got mine way back when or your work place will help you get it.

In terms of positions and pay it bites big time. Housing? Virtually unheard of.

There may be some places that offer something decent but in my experience there was nothing.

Anybody have a better time finding decent work than I did feel free to chime in.
