Has anyone taught ESL in Natal? If so, at which school? What was your teaching experience like? Do you know of any other schools in Natal? Are there any private language schools there? Did you like living there? I hear Natal is dangerous. Does that mean to just be alert or is it more dangerous than that? Any information will be helpful. Thank you.

IMHO Natal is a safe city, a couple od dodgy parts between the city and the beaches if you take the wrong route, but nothing bad. Much safer than Recife or Fortaleza.

^ I agree 100%. I lived in Natal for a little over a year and it was amazing. Just so long as you're smart and keep your head on straight you'll be fine. Once I learned some portuguese (which you will need to know a bit to get by around the city) I found that Natal is much like Rio or Sao Paulo in terms of offering the 'big city life', but also can feel like a smaller city that's right on the beach.
To sum up, Natal is beautiful. The weather is always nice (thanks to the ocean and dunes), living well can be cheap (if you do your research), and it's relatively safe (just be smart).
