Just wondering...
I am 32, clean-cut. Five years of experience teaching English in language schools, business classes, private middle and high schools in Mexico. I also have a 120 hour on-site TEFL with six hours of observed teaching practice. English native speaker. Intermediate Spanish skills.
What are my odds in Colombia? |

I believe I've addressed a similar question before...without a university degree, your chances of getting a job at a high school would be possible but not likely, and the pay would probably not be enough to justify the added pressures of high school teaching.
you'd obviously be able to get language institute work without a problem. |

I'm pretty sure you'll need a degree if you want a work visa. |

you definitely do not need a university degree to get a work visa. you generally do need to show some sort of qualification (celta would be fine) |

"Proof of experience, diplomas, licenses or certificates that indicate that the foreigner is suitable for the position"
CELTA may be fine. I suppose it depends on the person you are dealing with in immigration that day. |

No, You Do NOT NEED a Degree to get a visa...
I got my CELTA in Ecuador came to Colombia started doing privates. Got a job at IH and got a Visa soon after. IH sponsored the trip to Venezuela-- Never had a problem, I did not even have my CELTA certificate yet only a confirmation letter from Southern Cross.
I will say it does not seem to be easy to find a school that will get you a visa |
