Hi, i am an American with dual citizenship. i have been working for two years as a Business teacher in Lima, Peru. I have a TEFL certificate ( 120 hours + teaching ) I was also a teacher in the USA and in France in the private school system for more than 14 years I am planning to go back to France and hoppefully find a similar job. When is the best time to go job hunting?

At least in this case the OP has dual citizenship, presumably with the second one in France, though it's not really clear.

Dear Mr. Bar,

Since pingouin59 mentioned having dual citizenship, certification and extensive experience, I felt that one of the best resources for 1) finding a teaching position in France and 2) getting an idea of the best time to apply would be letting him/her know about the TESOL France Jobs list.

It's a free mailing list run entirely by volunteers. In fact the entire association is run by volunteers. Our goal is to reach out to fellow teachers and help them with their own professional development.

Actually we do. Almost daily. We receive emails from non-EU citizens asking if we can pass on their CVs and/or get them work in France. Of course we can't. Moreover, it's not the main purpose of the association! We inform them, as you have on this Discussion Forum, that's it's just not possible for non-EU citizens to simply relocate to France and find English Training work. We also mention this on our website (FAQ section).

And even if it were possible, the current private ELT market in France is changing rapidly and the number of positions available is not what it was in the 70s and 80s. Companies and language schools (especially in Paris) are getting pickier. I am personally glad to see that they are demanding more quality and qualifications. But that does mean that teachers are going to have to continue updating their methodology to keep up with the changing demands of today's trainee.
