Hi everyone,

I�m thinking about working in France in the near future and would really appreciate any advice you can give.

Well first here�s a little bit of info about myself, I�m 23 years old, I�m from the UK, I have BA, i to i tefl and I have 2 years teaching experience in South Korea.

I have quite a few questions so I�ll be blunt and just list them:

What�s the easiest way to find a job in France?
What�s the usual length of a contract?
When would be the best time to find a job?
I haven�t got a specific location I would like to go to so any suggestions?
What�s the usual salary and standard of living?
I have a GCSE in French but that's as far as it goes (I am willing to learn though), is this a problem?
How have you found the lifestyle and working conditions ?

I-to-i is less than the standard for Europe - the issue is simply that most newbies on the job market have a CELTA or equivalent, and anything less puts you at a disadvantage.

Asian teaching experience won't give you much of an edge, either, I'm afraid. The approaches and methods used, students and their motivations and expectations, and many other aspects of the job are simply far different in the Euro market.

I'm not saying you couldn't find something - but I would doubt you'll be near the top of the hiring heap.

Most contracts are Sept/Oct thru June and wages will be subsistence level.

I'd just like to ask the OP if he had any luck in France. I am pretty much in the same position as you (but have a TESOL degree) and my experience is in Japan on the JET programme (2 years). I'm looking for work for next September.
