Is teaching ESL a good basis for long term relocation to Buenos Aires?
In other words, what kind of experience do people out there have with this, with teaching ESL and sinking down some kind of roots over two years, five years and longer in B.A? I want out of the US on a hopefully long term basis. I've only spent a little more than one month in B.A. but from what I've seen of the city I like it very, very, very much.
I get the impression that only having a B.A. in English is probably not adequate. Does anyone out there have any experience making a long-term living teaching ESL in Buenos Aires with only a B.A?
I myself do want and intend to get a CELTA but for the foreseeable future the money to do it is just not there.
Thanks,
Kevin in San Francisco |

Hey Kevin,
Check out this thread

It appears that BsAs hasn't been kind to the ESL teacher, but Montevideo may be the place for you to consider.

guys... if you come from a westernized culture forget about it... the first few months will be just fine and dandy but it all soon wears off.. the novelty doesn`t last long... you`ll all end up living in palermo and belgrano but.. trust me.. it`s difficult to get used to... its a big change.. argentina tries so hard to put on the 1st world cap.. but damn do they ever have a long way to go... |
