Hey Spot,
Didn't quite understand your message - but didn't the ESP Unit get collapsed last year and integrated into the overall scheme of things at UGRU - like er become Level 4?
Hearing weird things about the manager and his style, and about some kind of a witch-hunt on ESP teachers and people getting reported for silly inconsequential trivia.
Anyone else heard anything? |

Unfortunately, ESP has become a place where teachers are likely to find:
--their input to be unwelcomed / unappreciated,
--their simple requests or clarifications to be answered by truly ugly and insulting responses,
--their teaching schedules to suddenly change up to 100% after a semester has started.
ESP teachers can expect to receive on a regular basis:
--endless multi-forwarded emails and revision emails correcting mistakes from previous emails (part of the "better communication" campaign),
--mistaken information (usually involving times, dates and places) that is emailed or posted, but not corrected,
--warning memos, without any feedback or discussion, for failing to follow policies and procedures they're not even aware of and have no hard-copy access to,
--constant confusion at trying to figure out which "latest version" or "as usual" practice to follow (failure to do so, of course, results in a warning memo).
The ESP Unit used to be a place where teachers got positive, respectful feedback from the management team and could discuss any issue without fear of reprisal. Now morale is at an all-time low with teachers leaving, trying to leave or already planning to leave. You know something is funny at work when teachers make a conscientious effort to avoid passing certain offices and meeting particular individuals. |
