Hi,
I've got nearly 2 years of EFL teaching experience and want to head to Rio next year. What are the prospects for arriving in Rio around mid-Jan 2011 and looking for immediate work - private or at various schools? I keep reading that it's difficult to get teaching hours between New Year and Carnival, but all the posts seem to be old. If anybody is there now and can give me some advice it would be much appreciated.
Best regards,
Charlie |

Hi Charlie,
Im heading out to Rio in just over a weeks time to have a crack at the EFL scene there for as long as I can make ends meet! If I can, I'll try to update the forum on how successful (or as the case may be, unsuccessful!) my endeavours are.
Ive read the same comments as yourself re: availability, but Im hoping that with some graft and persistence something will turn up! I just cant imagine that its impossible to find something in a city as large as Rio.
Are you heading out there around the same time yourself? If so Im keen to meet fellow TEFL'ers! http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=86463
All the best,
Adam |
