Hi everyone,
There is a job opening that fits exactly my profile and I would like to teach in India, however the job is in Chennai and I am concern that I might not deal very well with the hot weather.
How is it really? Can you still go out? And how do you deal with it? for how many months is the weather so hot that you cannot go out?
Tanks for giving me feedback and advices |

Hi Oxys,
Chennai is located near the equator and hence has a tropical climate. The weather is very hot from March till September. April and May are the hottest months. Until the rains start, around July, its definitely a challenging climate to live in.
You can beat the heat by staying indoors at work etc. Stay in AC environments as far as possible. Avoid touristy stuff in the afternoons (or you'll melt), try to do it in the early morning hours. Things get better in the night but it'll still be humid.
You will need very light, easy breathing clothing. Get good high-SPF sunblock. Drink plenty of fluids. You'll need an umbrella for some shade and also during the rainy season.
Hope that helps! |
