We're planning a gathering again, this time for Xochimilco.
Saturday, Jan. 22nd meet up at noon at Embarcadero Nativitas. We usually meet at the north end, where the street Galeana ends at the embarcadero parking lot.
We launch at 12:30 so if you're late, we're gone already. Feel free to PM me for better directions or my cell number.
There are some new people in town to welcome and one veteran teacher (and forum poster) heading home across the pond. This will be his last hurrah and as he has some books to hand out, we may as well also make it a book swap as we've done before. |

I'll be sorry to say good-bye to the old friend who's returning home but happy to meet some new colleagues and to spend a few hours larking about the canals of Xochimilco. |

Actually, it's now iffy as to whether the person departing (oh just come and post, will ya so I don't have to be so respectful of privacy?) will be able to make it as Saturday is a work day apparently.
I have a few political bios to bring to the swap. Some throw-away sci-fi too if that's up anyone's creek - pun intended. |

'Fraid so! I need every centavo I can lay my hands on at the moment, and my 3 hr Sat class is the biggest payout of the week. Which is why I rarely make a Saturday meet up. Besides, my student hasn't cancelled a single class for 3 years, and only 2 in five years. Too good a run to stop now!
Sorry! Hopefully there'll be another chance, maybe later on a Sat afternoon sometimes before I go. There's still another month before I board the plane. I have 30 to 40 books to get shot of. |

Whatever books you want to bring. Past swaps have been mainly books read for interest; novels and interesting non-fiction.
I will be passing on a copy of The Pillars of the Earth which has been personally chewed by Guys dogs. (There is no missing text.) |

Bring those teaching resources you mentioned last time...I'd like a copy of that CD. I have some on CD as well to hand out. |

Novels. When I quit my last job they took all the teaching resources back. |

Are you interested in a disk of resource material? |

Well, I'm not sure it would be much use to me anymore because I'm not really teaching ESL now. I'm teaching at a colegio, subbing social studies, english lit and english comp for (basically) bilingual teenagers. Plus I sometimes have to sub classes in Spanish sometimes in subjects like biology ("Miss, what does this mean?" "I have no clue.")
But if there's anything on that disk that would be good for advanced students, could be good!
Thanks though |

In summary, everyone, bring anything you are willing to give away, because some will be looking for teaching resources, some will be looking for reading material for students, and some will be looking for personal reading material (novels, etc.) |

I would LOVE to make it, but I gotta fly like a snowbird that week back to my other roost, but fear not, I'll migrate again soon to the land of the Aztecs, tacos and Tepito. |
