|
|
Hello,
I just landed an interview with both Amity and ECC and I'm a little nervous about both. My main concern is about the lesson we're supposed to brng in for the Amity interview. Any tips or pointers as to what kind of lesson I should do? Acutally tips for the interview as a whole will be helpful! |

Hey Paul,
Just wondering - when did you apply? I'm curious to know how long it is until I can expect a response. |

Thanks. I heard back from ECC today too. Didn't hear back from Amity though... Thought I wrote a pretty good essay too. I'll give it a few more days though... I just applied yesterday.
Edit// Just got an interview with Amity!! Wohoo |

Congrats!
Did you guys happen to get
a confirmation e-mail from ECC
that they received your application?
I got one from Amity, but not from ECC!
It's been over a week. |

Same.. it was 1-2 days for both ECC and Amity. ECC didn't confirm my application.. they just told me that they wanted to interview me.
Paul - have you gone on your ECC interview yet? |

For ECC and Aeon/Amity here are the tips I have. I used these successfully to get a teaching position in Japan:
1. Please take 1-2 weeks to brush up on your grammar. Look up and study "100 most commonly mispelled words" and "common English grammar errors / mistakes" and brush up on your grammar terms (proper noun, pronoun, past participle, ect.) Trust me on this. ECC is upfront about giving you the test, Aeon / Amity decides to surprise you for some reason.
2. For your sample lesson: Smile, be fun, and remember it's ok to be nervous. Be well prepared for Amity; have some hand-outs / poster boards and put some decent effort into it. MAKE IT AS INTERACTIVE AS POSSIBLE. Do not stand there and lecture! Look up some ideas in the idea cookbook on this site to show some creativity to stand out.
3. For the interview portions: be flexible, friendly and professional.
Good luck!! I'm sure you'll do great if you are prepared and just be yourself!

The ECC test is tough! They take it very seriously. I'm an English major and only got a 92%. STUDY!!
Good luck! |
