I will hopefully have the funds to travel to Italy for a few weeks in late March and I want to fish around for some work with the intention of staying there. Are there any cities in the north that are known to have more plentiful work oppurtunities for a newly qualified teacher? I would most likely have to fly into Milan, so within relatively easy travelling distance of there would be ideal. Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know the north that well, but Milan itself has a lot of work opportunities. Try also Torino, the area around Venezia, such as Padova, and also places like Vicenza, Cremona, Pavia...

It's not the best time of year to look for work (most places run September - July) but you might well pick up bits and pieces here and there - especially if you work "freelance" for more than one school.

I'm assuming you're EU, otherwise (if US or Australian, for example) you're going to find it hard to work.

Just another word of warning: the north is expensive to live in. Bring funds to tide you over for at least a couple of months!
