Hi, I just accepted an offer at ISCS for 11k with medical and annual ticket - but those benefits do not include dependents. I accepted the offer because I only have a BA and one year experience in Egypt. I figured this would be the best I could get Laughing - that's good enough for a "start", right? I guess I just need support Embarassed

thanks

Well, it's most likely the entry level salary for whatever subject/content area you'd be teaching. But what about housing?

thanks for replying - i figured as much, and really it could be worse since i don't have a teaching qualification.
they gave me a gr 3 class teacher position - said i would be responsible for most subjects. no accommodation - the "allowance" is part of the salary. i tried negotiating, but got nowhere so i accepted since it is the only offer i have right now.

Unfortunately, it's hard to negotiate if your qualifications are minimal. For a reality check, take a look at the following threads:

For info on life in the UAE, do an Internet search on expat united arab emirates forum.

I would say that you could get a place in Sharjah for 4000 a month or less. Check dubizzle for the Sharjah rental market.

thanks again for the reply - i know for sure that it is a tough market in the UAE and lacking qualifications and experience won't get me an 18k/month salary. i wanted to put my foot in the door and hope it works out Smile
as for accommodation - i've heard sharjah is cheaper... thanks for the help Smile

You mentioned dependents. Are you expecting to bring a spouse and/or children with you?

If you are female, you are aware that you need your husband's written permission to bring the children, aren't you? I assume so since you were in Egypt.

Have you looked into childcare? This may be very expensive...
