There have been instances recently on the Japan forum where members have expressed disagreement with some of the more negative postings relating to living and teaching in Japan as well as attacking the makers of such postings simply for posting negative information they found unpalatable, i.e., "8.8 Earthquake & Tsunami Hit Japan" thread.
For the record, we are not going to permit postings singling out or disparaging members who post such negative views in the same way that we will not permit the singling out or disparaging of members expressing positive views.
If you are unhappy with what someone writes, you are free to discuss it or disregard it. You are not free to insult, attack or target the maker of such a message only because you don't happen to agree with his or her point of view, source of information or motive for posting.
Calling or implying a member is a troll, scare or rumor monger or advising someone not to post such comments or to leave this board are both contentious and arrogant and fall in the totally unacceptable range. They are also sure ways for members to promptly become ex-members.
We don't muzzle anyone who plays by the rules, policies and guidelines of this board regardless of whether or not other members happen to agree or not agree with the opinion expressed.
Discuss the posting. Do not discuss the maker of the posting.
Members who violate this policy statement will be sanctioned. Sanctions include permanent banning along with the ex-member's ISPs. |
