The indiansinkuwait.com web site has the new, official Kuwait Private Sector Labor Law:

Best 40-page read, ever.

Greetings,
Does anyone teaching in Kuwait have any information about their school following the new labor laws? I can tell you the school I am at is not and certainly seems to have no intention of addressing the changes. Specifically, maternity and sick days. |

As of the 2010 February publishing of the law in The Kuwait Official Gazette, all private sector places of business in Kuwait are bound to using the new (rather than any prior) private sector labor law; any place that is not can be punished by law.
Gather irrefutable evidence if you wish ("in writing" is always best, and e-correspondence is fantastic since whatever is insha'allah very clearly stated in writing comes with incorruptible time, date, ISP, etc. stamps), and then seek the advice of an attorney, who likely will ask for official translations to Arabic of your e-evidence if it is in any other language.
If you're not much interested in consulting with a lawyer, you can simply respectfully broach the topic with the appropriate staffer(s) at your school and, printout of the law in hand, inquire what the on-site process is in order to be in compliance with the country's law (you get the idea).
Hope this helps. |
