Right! That's something to think about unfortunately. Sorry if I am sounding all gloom and doom but facts are facts. Things are NOT good in the U.S. right now.  I would say that most TEFLer's can do better overseas. |

True, but in the past I was able to get a part-time ESL gig pretty easy here in Texas and get a temp or university admin job in less then a month. Those days are gone amigo. I was out of the states for three and a half years and just got back three months ago and I can tell you there is a HUGE difference now. Things have gotten FAR WORSE. That's why I think it will be very difficult for anyone to land a good ESL gig in the U.S. now. |

Dear EFLeducator,
It's all only part-time, no benefits, and has been for quite some time. But the community college I work at hired three new ESL (part-time/no enefits) teachers this year.
It all depends on whether anyone currently working leaves or has to take time off because there are literally dozens of qualified people looking for even part-time/no benefits work.
But again, that's been the case here since 2003.
