Hello All,
I'm normally camped in the Poland forum, but I got a CV from someone who did a 130 hour teaching course at Language House and it not being CELTA (the recognised standard in Poland) was interested as to whether or not it equates to it or not. It's called rather vaguely a 'TEFL course'.

My initial thought (based on what's covered in the blurb on the website) is yes, but was wondering what people on the ground in Prague think.

I've looked on the interweb for reviews and (unsurprisingly - which makes me a teeny bit suspicious) the reviews are glowing.

The search function on dave's wasn't working so that wasn't much help.

TIA

So far as I'm aware (though I haven't had any direct contact with the centre or its trainees for a few years now) it is a CELTA equivalent, including supervised teaching practice and etc.

The applicant should really state this clearly on his/her CV - perhaps LH needs to provide a bit more information to their trainees on the issue.

Normally, certs from the 'other' centres state clearly on the backside what the course involved. Some of the key language from this should be included on CVs.

Hi Simon,

I think if you look around for reviews you'll find both positive and negative things around for the course. Mostly positive though and I really don't know why that would be suspicious. It's easy today to find people on facebook and verify that they are real people. If you want to know about our training, I would contact Alan Moller at IATQUO. We are externally monitored by them and have had our course looked at to the last detail. You can find out more info at http://iatquo.com/

Cheers,
