My girlfriend and I are currently teaching in China and our contract here is finished in August. I know that the primary job season in Chile is in February and March, but I was wondering what the job prospects would be in August and September. We are both credentialed high-school teachers in the States. I am TEFL certified from university and she is working on hers here in China. We would be happy in Santiago or one of the smaller coastal towns like La Serena. We also have the option of "wintering" in the States and then going to Chile.

Thanks.

Actually the slowest months for teaching in Chile are January and February because its summer vacation for everyone. March is the best time to look for a job but really any time other than Jan-Feb should be pretty easy to find a job. I work for a language institute and we teach English, Spanish, Italian and French.
We have a company aimed at 3 different groups of people. The one for kids is called The Homework Club, the one for businesses and adults is called Imperial English, and the one for other foreign languages is called Spanish Now.
I have worked here since November of 2010 and I have really enjoyed it. They pay well and they offer a lot of benefits to teachers that other institutes dont offer.
Its a really positive work environment and there is a lot of work. We actually have a waiting list of students because we are short on good teachers.
Here are the web pages and you should definitely send in a resume.
www.thehomeworkclub.cl
www.imperialenglish.cl
www.spanishnow.cl

Hope this helps!
Lindsey

Hi, I apologize for inserting myself into the thread like this, but I just had a quick question for you, Lindsey.

I as well am hoping to arrive in Chile in late August/September. I saw your links and was curious about how specifically to send in my resume. On the site there isn't a specific place to send them. Any other tips?

Thank you very much.

Thanks for the heads up. It saves us a little to not show up in mid-January and expect to find a job.

Hi rastaccu. I, too, hope to teach beginning in September. I, too, checked out Imperial English and didn't see an employment section. Did you find out where we can send our resume?

Thank you! Question
