I have been offered a teaching position but they want me to purchase a visa. First I thought we did not need one if we are from USA. I know if I am going to stay more then 90 days I need something. But I thought it would be a work permit and not a visa.
Is this a scam?

Please help Rolling Eyes

It's a scam. You can't get a visa as a US citizen. A school must apply on your behalf - and they won't because they would have to prove that you have some skill/qualification that no EU member citizen candidate for the position can match.

There is lots of info on working in Italy as a non-EU member citizen on this board - you could probably usefully read through some of it

You could also usefully google Schengen zone and read about the 90 days in the zone and 90 days out, if you don't already know about this.

Seconded. The moment they ask you to deposit money into an account, you know its a scam. It's the only surefire way to know. They can mirror websites and hijack email addresses from legit schools these day.
