And this one.
http://www.eslteachersboard.com/cgi-bin/review/index.pl?read=36560
I post it bcause it is very recent. To my kowledge, four of the six teachers recruited in the Oct 2010 advert in the Times Education Supplement have left - two with money because they didn't believe the clever face-to-face lying which the other two (nice older British ladies) did - both who lost out in many ways other than money. As this company now has only one perm teacher in the capital and one travelling teacher in Suli, presumably if they want to entice the students who either sit the Cambridge Exams or apply to be students in England (these are their main money stream), they will need to advertise for foreign teachers again soon. $2000 a month; inferior accommodation; no support; no visa or residency permit; bullying; intimidation; changing job description. |

Hello Mikalina. Wow, that does not sound good at all.
Mikalina, do you know any emails of (ex) teachers who I can contact to get second and third opinions ?
Thank you very much. I am not sure if I can receive PMs because I am new to the board.

You have three. Do you mean you want fourth and fifth opinions?
My suggestion would be to go on all the TEFL sites and ask for positive feedback re this company. Barring the plants (usually spotted by joining a discussion late and under an unknown name), I would expect you to get more of the same. |

You can come "East" if you want man. Get you a nice number in K'Har, Dari or Pashtun speakers only, 30 hours, 06.00 start, dog-eared DLI books.... Patience is a virtue. Keep the students happy. Don't loose yer head.
Nice accommodation in the old hotel.

What is the salary that comes with a place like that. Hopefully $5,000 monthly. How much does it cost to see a Barber Surgeon there? |

They've recently posted again...
-$1200/month+accommodation for Western, NES with degree
-$2000/month+accommodation for Western, NES w/degree 3years+ experience
Seems very low, especially considering that local, international schools start at around $2200-2500/month (no experience)
I left the area a few years back, but contacts inform me the cost of living is more or less the same ($300-$500) |

As someone who's making $8k/month in the best country in the Middle East (oil company gig), I can tell you that offer is dreadful. Don't even consider it. I was in the war zone that is Libya (2004-2014) and can tell you, living in a country that isn't safe is no fun. Dyncorp pay about $120k/pa for hostile environment gigs, even more. This offer is a disgrace. Go there if you are a mug. |
