Who would have the right to vote? Mature TEFLERs like me who enjoyed the benefits of a Scottish primary education but have hardly set foot in the place since? Would Sean Connery be able to vote? Hes either playing golf on the Costa del Sol or hes at home in LA. Would EU immigrants who have the right of abode and work permit be able to cast a vote in such a referendum? What about the Englishman sent north by his company to work in Glasgow or Edinburgh? And the Scot who emigrated to Australia 25 years ago? Celtic and Rangers players earning a fortune in Glasgow but hail from distant corners of the globe?
How would Salmond decide who votes? |

If you are on the electoral register (in the vulgar tongue, 'The Voters' Roll'), you will have the right to vote. |

Depends, my friend's mother is an EU citizen and has lived in Scotland for 20 years. She can't vote in a general election but she can vote in local elections.
I think that the vote will end up going to everyone in the UK. Who knows what the feeling is like in England?
On the one hand people might be glad to have more money in England and less going to Scotland. At the same time they might be quite proud and not want to give it up |
