Everyone of the English language dailies here in Taiwan are the mouthpieces for one of the three main political parties. Often, stories like this are published for political gain and are a far cry from the actual policy in practice. |

When the government of Taiwan finally starts doing what they say, Taiwan will be moving in the direction of a real nation. Even in regard to an insignificant issue like this, it would be a welcomed change. Has anybody received this visa yet? |

scb222, thanks for adding the information, but if you read the articles I posted the links to carefully it says from May 1 you can get a free 30-day visa on arrival. This is an extension of the existing 14-day free visa on arrival. i.e. instead of having to pay for a 30-day visa on arrival holders of certain passports will receive them automatically for free.
I am in China at the moment so I can't access the Taiwan government web sites. If anyone wants to check the MOFA or GIO web sites they should find the information there and perhaps they can post it in this thread. |
