Hello. I've seen information about applying for a freelance work permit in Germany. I have a question. I am American. If I go to Germany, and manage to obtain a freelance work permit, would I be able to bring my spouse with me, or does he need a separate work permit? I am married to a Russian and we are trying to figure out a way to move to Europe (he is a computer programmer, I am an ESL teacher). |

I think your best bet would be for him to try to get his visa, residence and work permits on his own. If he has US residency, you might be able to enter together, but living long-term might be difficult on a freelancer's income.
Try this website for expats in Germany:

Lots of threads on this issue there.
