That seems appropriate. Before the election, I heard him referred to as Pea Miento. |

Well Phil, at least we can look forward to a reduction in the cartel crime if by none other than relative scale.

I'm sorry, Guy, but I don't understand the above sentence. Please explain. |

Badly worded, trying to be witty...I think our new president will outshine all others on the level of corruption and theft than any mere cartel could do. |

After I posted my question, I realized what you were trying to say. And I agree with your comment, unfortunately. |

Well this is the first thing I said on that thread.

The same as in 2006, I'm glad to see Mexicans making noise and letting the world hear it. In 2000 I was ready to fly to Washington to join the protests after Gore's "loss". But there was no protest to join and I was so disappointed.
Also per the old thread, I would see like to see Mexico move to a run-off system, where they have a second round with only the top two candidates so that the winner actually has a majority. 37% of 62% turn out does not exactly say, "The people choose me!"
My husband spent last night driving around our city, taking photograph's of the 82 different mantas showing individual polling place results. You can see his and other's photos at www.fotoxcasilla.com

Follw the link--it was a joke.
I also found this gem.

Maybe PRI and PAN can merge their candidates and votes and claim the majority. Calderon as president on weekdays nd Madrzo holding down the fort on weekends. Or Madrazo as first lady if he married Calderon...no scratch that - no gay marriage in Mexico.

It would work now as there is gay marriage in Mexico City, oh and of course, Josefina is a woman...
And this

If only that were true today.

It all started with me meeting AMLO on an Aviacsa flight to Tuxtla in 2005...
I believe that MotherF was joking at the time... |

I also found a quote from someone who agreed with me.

Thanks for posting the link to that article. I just read it and sent it to several friends with an interest in and love for Mexico. I wish that after our last two presidential elections, people here in the States would have had as much gumption as the Mexicans have who've been camped out and demonstrating in the D.F. for weeks and taken to the streets ourselves!

Like I said all along, EPN was going to win...
No surprise at all.
Real surprise would have been an AMLO victory.
Can't wait to see what happens after Dec. 1st

Having 62% of those who voted telling me they don't want me, isn't winning in my books.

Stumbled across this
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/world_now/2012/07/mexico-voters-abroad-results-josefina-vazquez-mota.html
Quote: |
Vazquez Mota won 42.1% of the 2012 migrant vote, results showed. She was followed by leftist coalition candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador with 38.9%. The PRI finished with 15.6%, a low third place compared with its national victory of at least 38%, according to Monday's ongoing national tally.
The migrant vote is minuscule compared with the tens of millions who vote in Mexico, but they often remain influential leaders in their communities here and account for a large portion of Mexico's wealth through remittances.
