Hallo,
I am currently waiting on approval of my work permit (I'm from the USA) from the labor office in Duisburg; the second office in Bonn already gave me a thumbs up. Since the waiting can last a number of weeks, I am in need of some work ASAP, so I posted some flyers at the universities in Dusseldorf and Duisburg. Although this was only a couple of days ago, I think posting them at Universities was somewhat useless, as so many young, highly educated Germans are already fluent in English by the time they reach university. What I would like to ask is if anyone has any experience in finding private clients to provide cash lessons to, and where specifically are good places to post the flyers? Also, I'm asking 15 euro/lesson.... I think this price seems fair since I'm a TEFL-certified native speaker w/ a 4 yr. degree. Ideally, a lesson would be 45 minutes, but I would have no problem with making it an hour - the cash is more important than my time at this point in the game. thank you for any help on this one!

I'm not sure what your situation is, but here in my area of Berlin, people sometimes post notices on a community board at a local grocery store. Usually they are selling something or looking for a place to live, but sometimes people offer language lessons.
Otherwise, I think it is more by word of mouth. Is there a language teaching organization in your area that you could become a member of? Perhaps that would help. Also you could check out Toy Town Germany (online) for your area.
