If one were to find legal work in Brazil (any work, not necessarily teaching), do you know if it is possible to work toward residency?
Does Brazil have a scheme where if you work (legally) for a certain amount of time, you can convert your work visa into a resident visa?
I'm really interested in making my way to Brazil eventually, so I was just wondering. |

No I don`t think so. As far as I know you cannot convert a work visa to a permanent visa.
The ways to permanent residency are 1) a stable union 2) have a kid here 3) get married here.
There is an investment visa which will give you temporary residency for (I think) 3 years. If the business is still up and running they renew it again. I have a feeling if you are here for say 10 years you can apply for naturalisation. It`ll cost you R$150,000 plus lawyers and accountants fees.
You can also retire here for permanancy
Gringoes.com has a very good forum for all the visa info you need for Brazil.
Good luck! |
