Is it common for a contract for a position in a public school to include summer teaching? I was hoping to attend a class this summer, not teach one. I have not had any additional training in a few years |

I'm going to hazard a guess that the reason you're not getting any replies to your posts is because your questions are bit vague and probably 'offer specific'. I have no experience teaching directly for public schools, although I did teach two separate courses as a result of being 'farmed out' by my employer.
Are wages similar across the island? I don't know. Look on the internet and compare the ones you find.
You want to take the summer off? Look for a contract that offers it. If you can't find one then I guess you have your answer. |

Thanks...for not only your answer, but also for your suggestion. I will be more specific in the future. |

I can't say that my experience can be generalized for all public school, but my school's schedule has me working summer. Although, they are being flexible and I am allowed to switch shifts with my colleagues to accumulate more days off. |
