| I worked in Santiago two years ago and it was easy to find work at institutes at that time. I have a university degree and a TESOL and a good amount of experience. Although I really did not like Santiago very much; I am considering going back. I have heard there is very fierce competition for even institute jobs now. Can someone who knows the real situation tell me what is up? |

I can't speak for Santiago, but I work for an institute in Concepcion, and we're not starving for people. They recently hired 2 new teachers out of 8 interviewees and who knows how many applicants, and they were the first new hires we had had in a while.
Previous teaching experience and being a native speaker still give you an edge, though. |
