Hey,

Has anyone had any experiences with KNS Language Institute? My girlfriend and I were going to teach in Korea but the school I applied to (SLP) and the agency I was going through (English Apple) were really shady and tried to change the contract the day before I was supposed to leave.

So we are looking at Taiwan now. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Avoid them like the plague.
I've heard reports from several different people and they have all been negative. One guy had to take them to court so they would release his pay, illegally withheld, and another one commented on how "free" a cram school was that she was subbing at when compared with KNS. The overall impression I get from KNS is that they expect way too much, at least when compared to other schools. I'd find another school.

plato, that's the problem. There aren't that many places in Kaohsiung to work. There are heaps of small schools, but they may not want to apply for a visa for you. KNS could be OK to work at, but at the very least I get the impression they are extremely strict and just wouldn't be a happy place to work at. HESS and JOY have branches throughout Kaohsiung, so I'd consider working at either of them before KNS.

If you are over 40 forget it - they are very blatant about wanting to hire 'young, good looking' teachers. I had an interview with them and everything was proceeding nicely (they do pay a good salary) until they asked my age.
Everything came to a screeching halt...I'm 46 but was 44 at the time - I have great references and 7 years experience but that was all worthless compared to those big old numbers 44 Rolling Eyes
