Hi

I have my standard school based job, but want to teach 2/3 hrs a weeks additional private students to increase my savings:) I've done this whilst teaching in Malaysia, but there was lucky as I happened to meet a guy who kept putting me in contact with people wanting classes. So my HK question is this:

Can any suggest a good place(s) to advertise for private students?

Thanks!!

With the caveat that taking private students without the explicit permission of your employer and agreement of the Immigration Department is illegal, if you haven't yet made the connections with local people to get the word out, then a notice on the community notice board in your local supermarket should start the ball rolling.

Thanks:)

Caveat noted (similar to other places I've taught).

Are there any websites that could be used as well?

If you are anywhere near a university, post on their noticeboards. There are always students anxious to get practice for IELTS or other exams.

And put anonymous flyers in the post boxes around your building.

You can put ads up on the noticeboards at lots of Park'n'Shop stores too.

I placed an ad on the gumtree website last year and got a few replies. I left for a job on the mainland before I got chance to follow any of them up.
