Is this some series of pagan religious ceremonies where 22 grown men kick a piece of leather around ?
I am pleased to say that I hanever been initiated into the mysteries of this weird cult.

scot 47,
Do you really think so? According to the very recent YouGov/Labour Party survey, only 33% of voters in Scotland want independence; 57% are opposed. Nearly half (47%) said they thought Scotland would be financially worse off after separation. Only 27% said it would be richer. |
Quite right too. I only hope those sensible voters, the ones who don't suffer too badly from the "infantile disease" of nationalism, aren't manipulated into changing their minds by the whipping up of utterly-abhorrent and despicable nationalistic "pride" (shiver). |

Yes, we are, but at a deeper level. Sport has always been victim of whipped-up nationalism - especially in the UK. Celebrating the continued reign of a monarch with flag-waving, and skinhead football hooligans' racism have a lot more in common than is comfortable for most people to contemplate...
Hic! Come on Russia! Kick the ball! |

Back to these strange religious rituals involving 22 young men and thousands of spectators. In their belief system, what is the end-result of these ceremonies ? |
