So I have a MA in Global and Public Policy. I don't have a teaching certification, but I do have two years of experience teaching English. Does anyone know if this might qualify me to teach social sciences as a teacher assistant? Any advice on acquiring a teach assistant position in Indonesia would be appreciated. |

You wouldn't be able to teach English, but I suppose you might be able to teach Global and Public Policy somewhere. The Indonesian government enacted a law in 2009 which requires that all foreign teachers have a BA at least in the field in which they plan to teach. I believe there is also a requirement of 5 years teaching experience. Previously schools were able to slip unqualified teachers through the visa mill, but the government (DIKNAS especially) is beginning to crack down.
For non-ESL teaching job information you might try the Indonesian expat forum: www.livininginindonesiaforum.org |
