ive recently came to the conclusion that the host of "independant"review sites purporting to be full of honest reviews are controlled by the tefl school/s themselves . not in every case, but many are. Anybody got any knowledge of it?, i guess its to funnel in newbies by lulling them in with false sense of security ,fraud in my opinion |

I'm sure to some extent it does happen. It's really easy for anyone to write a positive review about a course or a business who is connected with the course/business. It's also easy I would imagine for a school to threaten the website to take down/remove negative reviews. The way I go about it and the way that I tell people to research schools is that positive reviews are great, but if you can't actually get into contact with the student or a group of past students, they don't mean anything.
With Facebook and all of the easy ways it is to network with people, all good schools should be able and willing to connect you with recent graduates who you can verify. I know that we do that at The Language House TEFL and the other good schools do as well. |
