I was suspicious of the following offer because I am over 60 and thought usually Saudi Arabia did not issue visas for people my age. So, I asked another agency hiring for Princess Nora/Noora University. His response follows this offer:

From: Internal Recruitment Unit <xxx@sbc.edu.sa>

Dear xxxxx
You will be working for Princess Nora University in Riyadh, the capital city. As for the salary, please advise what's the salary you would like to get.

Regards,
Mohammad xxxxx

Sixty (60) is the mandatory retirement age for Saudis. However, due to the nitaqat initiative (Saudization), this age limit may also now apply to older expats expecting to work under a proper employment visa. But, for now, it seems this is at the discretion of the employer.

You didn't state your exact age, but in your situation, I suspect SBC intended to "employ" you while on a business visit visa (AKA work visit visa or work visa). Perhaps you don't mind working (illegally) under a biz visit visa. But if that's not your preference, then during interviews, you need to be clear about your age and if it would be an issue in obtaining an employment visa. Frankly, your best bet would be to avoid contracting companies altogether and apply for direct-hire opportunities instead. The exception is Teachaway, which seems to have some of the most satisfied teachers at PNU.

Contractors quite often hire older teachers. Direct hire is usually limited to those under 60 AT DATE OF COMMENCEMENT. Some organisations expect everyone to go aged 60 - and even use the Hegira calendar to calculate your age !

Those recruited by Teachaway are treated as direct hire, as are those recruited by Uniservices. Rumor has it that PNU will no longer be using SBC as a recruiter, but this has not been substantiated.
