A big one just hit here and now I think we're having a smaller aftershock. I feel kind of dizzy and nauseous .... Hope everyone is OK.

Everything OK where I am at... Just a slight shaking, but it was felt much harder in el DF proper.

http://news.yahoo.com/major-7-6-earthquake-mexico-pacific-coast-usgs-182522363.html

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - A major 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck 120 miles east of Acapulco on Mexico's Pacific coast, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Tuesday.

The USGS located the epicenter of the quake at 15 miles east of Ometepec in Guerrero state at a depth of 10.9 miles.

Also hope everyone is well...

Pretty bad up here on the fifth floor, they don't usually affect me, but I admit I got a bit dizzy!

It's in all the news in China, too. Must have been a bone-rattler.

I felt a pretty big aftershock about half an hour after the big one and a teensy one maybe an hour or so after that. I think that things are back to normal by now, including my internal equilibrium.

I've been in a couple of shakers while up on higher floors in buildings. Quite the sensation how height amplifies the effect.

Rockin' and a rollin' all the way here in Boca.
School was evacuated. We all stayed in the open green areas as we watched the new two-story covered (but open-sided) arena sway - it was rather spectacular.

But other than a little bit of concrete crunching, and a few excited kids who'd never been through one before, all was well.

Hope that all is well with Dave's members and their families and friends.

DL

Another one this morning (Thursday 22 March) at 10.50. It was 5.4 apparently, but I only felt a small shake, I thought it was a truck passing by!

I don't remember ever having so many aftershocks after a quake here.

I live on a narrow street in Mexico City. When the occasional large truck rumbles on through, my building usually shakes. I probably thought this aftershock was just another vehicle coming down my street.

I don't either, but keep in mind that this was the biggest one here since the 1985 monster quake.
