hi folks. can anyone shed some light on how long it generally takes to get a teachers KITAS in Surabaya and also whether they are strictly following the new rules such as 5 years experience plus a teaching degree etc. Thanks.

I think it depends on who you're working for, and the time seems to vary quite a bit. From what I know (I've lived here on and off for about 5 years), the schools are pretty reliable and you're unlikely to have much issue with it. I've worked in a few places here, and generally the schools see it as their responsibilty to sort out your Visa requirements. I haven't heard of anyone having to leave the country for example. I wouldn't be too concerned about it if you're planning to work for one of the more established places. If you want a more detailed answer feel free to ask me for my email.
