|
|
I've searched around on the internet and have found a few bits of information on this but not enough to determine what the situation actually is in Oman.
Do expats have to pay their rent annually in one lump sum? Or is it possible to negotiate monthly payments? Or quarterly or similar?
Hope somebody with experience living out in Oman can help...the thought of one lump sum is concerning me A LOT! |

Month to month is by far the most common. Never heard of anyone doing a lump sum or even quarterly.
Also, deposits are rarely required. |

In Muscat the best deal you can often get is quarterly in advance. |

Ah, so paying in advance seems specific to Muscat then? This seems to make sense as it appears that StampLover is in Salalah. |

What you will find is that each landlord makes his own decisions. It used to be that all landlords in much of the Gulf required annual rent paid in advance. But then, employers nearly always paid it for the teachers. As employers have switched to giving monthly housing allowances rather than providing furnished flats, the landlords have had to start accepting quarterly or monthly rents.
It is the economic "free market" at work... or something.

Here's hoping I find one accepting monthly payments! |
