Hey guys,

I am looking at a position in Surabaya, however I am wondering if the pay is too low. They offer RP11 million per month. There are holidays involved. As a bit of background, I have a BA, almost finished my MA, have a Celta and more than 5 years experience.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Chump change. That's US$ 1,164.33. How you gonna pay for your Master's college loans on that? You will spend half or more for cost of living. And if you search 'Surabaya' on this site, you'll see that many say it's the most boring place ever. With your background you could try for a real international school that pays first-world wages. I suspect your offer is from a so-called 'national plus' outfit that just loves your white face. You can do better, brother!

I had suspected that.

Luckily I am Australian, so student loans arent a big deal, but i dont want to work for less than the norm, and not in a horrible city!
