The issue is that he had an entry and exit visa from Jordan. Where else would he have gone? The only other countries with land borders are Iraq and Syria; the former needing a pre-arranged visa and the latter at least stamping his passport.

He should have got a second passport for Israel, especially given that he works/worked in KSA.

The original post stated that - as many have done over the years - the exit/entry from Jordan and the entry/exit from Israel from the land crossing were put on a piece of paper.

Thus in his passport was only the entry/exit from the Jordanian airport...

At least that is what is claimed...

If true... how would the Saudi authorities know?

I had understood from a friend who made a similar trip some years ago that the land crossings were less likely to stamp a separate piece of paper, they insisted on stamping the passport (but perhaps that was on the Israeli side and not the Jordanian? I don't recall). Of course, things change but perhaps the Jordanians keep track of those with Saudi RPs in passports and pass the info along?

The piece of paper option has been in effect for many years... at least since the 80s that I know of... They are supposed to use the paper if it is requested. But, just like with our own customs people, they can decide to be total schmucks on both sides of the border and when you ask for the piece of paper, they can just grab the passport and stamp away.

I know people that have gone back and forth most every year with no problem, and a few that have had their passports stamped after they requested the paper which caused them huge problems later.

The idea that even with the paper option used properly, someone is reporting them is not good news.
