The requirements are for you to be callow and an unfleeced rube. Please see some other thread here in the Singapore on the topic.

Current job situation is grim, just like anywhere else.

Are you into bondage and slavery? No? Never mind, despite their promises, they'll most likely chuck you out after three months anyway.

James Ludwick,

You may be better off to go to China. RMB6K - RMB10K pm in a language school. You will work for this pay offer but then again you won't be able to go out and splurge your money away.

I was paid RMB4K pm and I lived like a king! I also saved money as I am not silly with money. Just make sure the school pays the utilities, electricity, water, gas and what ever else there may be inclusive of air travel on arrival, and the apartment rent and it is free. Pots and pans (new) and other needs for cooking a meal are also in the apartment.

Bedding is also there with TV etc.

Check out all aspects of your contract before signing on the dotted line!

Students were great!!

Please note. I am not selling any particular school. I am saying that China is a better place if you open your eyes and ears and keep your mouth shut.

Work the hours for the first year then look around for something special.

That's sound advice there Mr....erm ....K
and if you can become an IELTS examiner you could double/triple your monthly salary. Many examiners work at the universities just for the visa and accommodation and make up their salary through the BC

The application form for teaching in Singapore when I saw it had as many pages as a sizeable telephone directory. Follow the advice of Mr K and head for the PRC where you can assist in the construction of Chinese Turbocapitalism.

So do you practice what you preach all you naysayers. Are you posting from the PRC or in Singapore and regretting going there?

Is it easier to find something once you're there? I'm going to be staying with a friend for a week, and I don't particularly want to waste it traipsing round schools if I'm not likely to get anywhere.
