I think in some sectors this process is being resisted as the senior people in the ministry are alumnae of the uni and like to keep things as they were when they were at school. |
Don't worry about it, I just posted it this morning (US time). If it's not too involved of an answer, what is the school system like in China? Do all kids mostly go to public schools, and is English required in the schools? Is it like Korea? Or is it like America where there is a mix of public and private schools. And do all kids have to attend school in China, up to a certain age? |

I haven't taught in the middle/high school environment.
From what I've observed I would be concerned about a few things in the public system (primary and secondary).
Hours.
Split shifts ie mornings at one school and afternoons at another with a non paid commute.
Possibility that you are actually employed by an agent and are being farmed out.
Lack of other FTs for professional support and socialising.
Lack of a Foreign Affairs Office where you can turn for help on issues about pay and allowances, accom, receiving mail etc. |
