It's the cameras in every common room of the house, which the HQ uses to keep an eye on us, but in the teacher bedrooms, there's only a mic. Not too bad, esp. since they like to record every class we teach, we also must sign out and sign back in, whenever we leave the "Big Brother House" but it's really just for our safety, not to keep track of us.

EE Gads. Maybe I should go back to my original 'Plan B' Laos plan after all!
So teachers working in Myanmar often get stuck in dorms with mics and cameras? And have to sign in and out?
Of course it is a bit rhetorical as mics and cameras are everywhere now. What a work is man! |

I'm sure the Professor would post some feedback from Manadaly but the internet doesn't work again...... |
UPDATE:
Hunter's the EXPAT bar & grub joint is CLOSED till further notice.
The horror!
Now, WHERE will all the expats from ILBC go to drink, complain about their life and throw away all their salary?
So sad, really... But HEY, those SIX DOLLAR sandwiches are still around! Gotta order one myself... cheese, cheap lunch meat, bread... some mayo n' mustard, SIX BUCKS, yes sir, what a deal, order it from the world famous LUNCH BOX today!
And it's GREAT, you can show up to work DRUNK everyday, get into a fist-fight with another teacher and still keep ur job, all the while posting complaints on the internet... GREAT LIFESTYLE here FOLKS! |

Not at all, on the contrary, come on over!
There's plenty of work and nothing much to spend your money on, Myanmar is the new frontier, perhaps the last frontier for teaching ESL/EFL in Asia.
Yeah, ILBC is a GREAT school...
The "curriculum" is a joke.
Resources? Sure, try to get photocopies made, you need THREE signatures on a req. form, one of which is from the director...
Internet? Doesn't work, so there's no use in trying.
Discipline? Yeah, the school is a joke and the Ss know it. Your grades/marks are not real, you don't actually give any grading which counts, & again the Ss know this...
A depressing joke of a "school" which is adept at telling lies to recruit teachers from half-way round the world. |

Discourage? Why no, of course not!
It's a great place for sure...
Try the dustbowl of Mandalay, or the mosquito infested city of Yangon, it's got it all |
