Hi guys,
Does anyone here have experience with ACIC (American Cairo International College)? I will be applying to them soon.
Do they require experienced teachers? What's the pay like?
Thank you |

I'm not familiar with the school, but I did dig around their web site.
It's certainly sketchy.
This page shows what appears to be an accreditation certificate:
http://www.acic.edu.eg/about#!__about/accreditation
So, I searched AdvancEd's database for the school's name.
http://www.advanc-ed.org/oasis2/u/par/search
When that wasn't successful, I tried different configurations of the school's name. Still nothing.
BIG. RED. FLAG.
No accreditation => no licensure => bad news.
There are plenty of schools and it's not as if Egypt is overrun with foreigners at the moment. Why not look elsewhere? |

Thank you for the reply!
The thing is, I am a recent university graduate, and so I have no experience. I will be getting a CELTA in the future, though.
I'm thinking that if I get offered a teaching position at ACIC, it would be a great launch pad for my TEFL career.
I will still be looking around at different schools.
Thank you again! |

There are plenty of licensed, legitimate schools in Cairo. Don't hang your hat on this one because you think they will hire you in spite of your lack of experience. |
