I got an email from Reach Consulting about a job at a "a government sector vocational technical institute" in the UAE. The details are:
Quote:
AED 11,000-AED-13,000 per month : Basic
AED 7,000 -11,000 per month : Housing Allowance
Other Benefits : Medical Insurance for self and family + Education allowance for children+ Ticket for self and one dependent + Annual Leave + Relocation Allowance (if applicable) + Other benefits as per the UAE Law
Any thoughts on that group or the details?
They didn't mention a specific institute to google the name of. I googled Reach Consulting for Dave's site and didn't turn up anything.
The lowest base pay is about the same as the typical offers I've seen for Oman.
The housing allowance starts out at about $2,000.
That gave me serious pause. Just how expensive is housing in the UAE? Or is this number way high and thus a cause of concern about this recruiter? $2,000 a month just for housing for the lowest qualified person??? Really???
Any thought would be appreciated... |

Did your friend apply for the job or just receive an offer out of the blue? If the latter, it's suspicious.
As for a housing allowance starting at 2000/month for the lower levels of employees, it's not unheard of for Asian expats in the region. It would be extremely difficult for most of us to find a clean, secure, private room with a bath and kitchen area for that amount. |
