Lots of new people in town, so a good time for a meet up for anyone interested.

We're thinking to go to the Franz Mayer Museum, near metros Hidalgo and Bellas Artes...easy to find.

http://www.franzmayer.org.mx

They have a cafe for the meetup and of course exhibits to wander around and see.

Saturday, August 18th, let's say 1PM and onward.

Here's the google map location.

PM me for more info or help.

I plan to be there. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones in one of the loveliest colonial-era patios in the Centro Histrico.

I REALLY might be able to make it this time Wink , as my wife also has a reunion close by, but at 6.00PM, which would tie up nicely.

Just a Q, Guy: I see the museum has an entrance fee ($45), but is it possible to be just in the caf without paying to enter the museum?

(Not stingy or anything!!)

I'm pretty sure you have to pay the entrance fee even to go to the cafe, sorry. It is worth it, as the museum has nice exhibits.

Actually, not, Guy. Straight from the FM website:

Tarifa:
Admisin general $45.00
Estudiantes y maestros $25.00
Entrada al claustro (cafetera y biblioteca) $5.00
Entrada gratuita a miembros del ICOM, afiliados, adultos mayores de 60 aos y nios menores de 12 aos
Martes entrada libre

Of course, being the proud possessor of an INAPAM card, I get in free!

Oh, good news then. Myself, I plan on going through the museum though.

Teacher ID will get you a discount if you have one.

Nuts! I was hoping your post would say that you were coming to this gathering. It's been a long time . . .

Are we meeting in the cafe at 1pm? I'm near the San Pedro metro. Is it on the same line as the Bell as station or will I need to transfer (it will be my first trip on the metro).

Yeah, meet inside at the cafe. I'll try to get there a bit earlier to secure a couple of tables. To find me, look for the little girl in my photo...she's coming with me.

The Bell? Is that Insurgentes stop? You'll need to get to the dark blue line (line 2) for Hidalgo or Bellas Artes stops.

For jserio:

It's not on the same line, but you have two options:

San Pedro (Direction El Rosario) > Tacuba (Don't confuse with Tacubaya!!!) then
change to Line 2 (Direction Tasquea) to Bellas Artes.

or,

San Pedro (Dir. El Rosario) > Tacubaya then Line 1 (Dir. Pantitlan) to Pino Surez, and there is a tunnel to walk to Bellas Artes Metro to exit.

I recommend the first option for a newbie!

Well I feel like a complete idiot. Phil, thank you for the great directions. I arrived at the museum at 1:30 and couldn't find anyone. Then I double-checked the date and saw its next week. Doh!
