I reckon the attitude to fat men and women is a little different in Japan. I think men are more likely to get the "Hey, you're fat!" comments directed at them, while women are more likely to get the "Wow, she's fat." comments behind their backs.
The ideal body situation isn't too different compared to anywhere else I guess, but surely you've seen the amount of average-weight, healthy-looking women on TV talking about the amazing things they did to reach super-slim size.
PS - but I don't think it affects hiring decisions, especially as it's common for Americans to be hiring Americans. |
