Hi all,
Thanks for all the great advice on this forum. I'm currently in Istanbul with some copies of my CV and TEFL certificate, and today I'm starting to apply for those English-teaching jobs.
I've emailed round 10 schools (gettin a lot of bounce-backs/bad email addresses...) and soon I think I'll start doing as so many have recommended-- walking around and applying in person.
My only question is, where's a good place to start? Istanbul is so big that I don't even know where to begin. I'm currently in Balat, if that helps, but I'm happy to go elsewhere.
Thanks so much, everybody. |

Try the areas around Taksim, Istiklal Caddesi, Beyoglu where there are many language schools. |

Some people would say you are doing this a bit late, in case you are unaware schools have started already for the new academic year! I suspect the vast majority have already got their quota of new teachers, you have missed the bus! |

Thanks for the advice, you two. I actually found a job at a primary school through a friend of a friend. Whoo!
Hoofin it through Taksim was just overwhelming and frustrating, actually. Email and job listing sites have worked much better for me. |
