I am about to purchase a Smartphone, but need help in what to look for while in China.
I notice they mention GSM,CDMA AND WCDMA. I have no clue what they mean. I just want to make sure I can use the phone in America after I leave China. I also want to know if I can buy such a phone from Amazon and New Egg in China. WillI still be able to use the phone in America? Are they unlocked?I just want to be able to add my ringtone from my computer (possibly by bluetootj) , easy to text keyboard and nice screen. Other than that I am not a pro. I am interested in Samsung and I was looking at the wave S5380D and the S5670 .

Most non-US phones are unlocked. GSM is a widely used standard, but is not used by Verizon, for example. Phones are carrier dependent in the US. If you get a quad-band phone on GSM you can likely use any carrier except Verizon(CDMA) and it's partners.
